Heather Allen-Swarttouw creates unique contemporary textiles and sculpture for the wall and pedestal. Each textile piece begins as white cloth that has been dyed, painted, and layered using a wide repertoire of surface design techniques. Staircases and vessel forms evoke a sense of mystery, of a journey, and a sense of place. A textile sensibility in her ceramic and mixed media sculpture create a dialogue, extending the imagery of her textile wall pieces. Working intuitively with color, pattern, and form she creates work that enlivens any environment.
