Craft as Object an exhibition hosted by HandMade in America



Craft as Object Opening Reception Friday, May 18th, from 5:30-8:00pm.

HandMade in America will host the exhibition Craft as Object in its downtown office gallery space from May 18 through August 17, 2012. This exhibition celebrates exceptionally made objects using traditional craft materials of clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, and recycled materials. Over 100 entries from all over Western North Carolina were juried, resulting in the 25 objects selected for the exhibition.

We are very excited to display the outstanding talents of craft artists in Western North Carolina! We welcome all to visit Craft as Object through August 17th.

Please join us for an opening reception on Friday, May 18, from 5:30 to 8 pm. This reception is free and open to the public. HandMade in America is located at 125 S. Lexington Ave, Suite 101. Our doors are on Hilliard Ave. between Church St. and S. Lexington Avenue.

Start collecting your best stories and photos of craft and culture for Show & Tell at our annual gathering on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 9am - 3pm at the Reuter Center on the UNC-Asheville Campus.Wayne Martin will be with us this year to talk about new State Programs and Folklife.

We're also planning a Small Towns Jam at lunchtime, so bring your fiddles, banjos and guitars!

Textile Study Group

These study groups will be held at 5:30-7pm on the third Wednesday of every month on various topics in textiles. Meeting will take place at HandMade in America, 125 S. Lexington Ave., Suite 101. Craft Labs

Craft Labs are a series of professional development classes for craft artists put on in partnership with Blue Ridge National Heritage Area. Classes are held from 6-8pm, the second Tuesday of each month at HandMade in America's office.

Do you wonder if your booth has the optimum set up for engaging your visitor? Do you know what questions to ask your booth visitor? Come learn the answer to these and other questions. The basics of setups and sales techniques will be discussed.
